Staff Spotlight: Martin

Behind every great team are people who make a difference both at work and beyond it. In our latest Staff Spotlight, we're introducing Martin, Compliance Manager at Searles Leisure Resort, whose commitment to supporting others extends far beyond his day-to-day role.

Supporting our team at Searles

As Compliance Manager, Martin is responsible for Health & Safety and training across Searles, helping to make sure our team has the knowledge, skills and support they need in their roles.

He also plays an important part in our work experience and apprenticeship programmes, helping people develop their skills, gain valuable experience and take their first steps into the workplace.

But Martin’s commitment to helping others doesn’t stop when he leaves Searles.

Making a difference in the local community

Martin is a trustee of The Ebi Foundation, a local charity supporting people living with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.

The charity provides support including specialist equipment and funded counselling, alongside memorable experiences that give families opportunities to spend valuable time together and create lasting memories.

Martin also gives his time as a Community First Responder, supporting emergency care within the local community.

Community First Responders are trained volunteers who can be dispatched to certain emergency calls close to where they live or work. Being based within the community means they can often reach a patient before an ambulance arrives, providing vital initial care and reassurance until an ambulance crew arrives.

It’s a role that requires considerable commitment, with volunteers giving their own time to train and be available to respond when they’re needed.

Taking on the London Marathon for NARS

In 2027, Martin is taking his commitment to supporting the community one step further by tackling one of the world’s most famous running events – the London Marathon.

He’ll be taking on the 26.2-mile challenge to raise money for Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS), a local charity providing enhanced emergency medical care across Norfolk.

NARS clinicians attend some of the most serious and life-threatening incidents across the county, bringing additional emergency medical expertise and care to patients when it matters most.

Training for a marathon is no small undertaking, and over the coming months Martin will be preparing for the challenge while raising funds to support the charity’s work.
