Staff Spotlight: Dave

With his famous facial hair and a knack for recognising returning guests, Dave needs little introduction to many of the people who holiday at Searles. Our Head of Site Security has been part of the team for over six years, but his connection to the resort stretches back much further — and includes a guitar and the Sundowners stage!

A familiar face at Searles

Dave plays a key role in delivering one of our core promises, Safety & Security: ensuring our customers and colleagues can enjoy a safe, secure experience throughout their time on the resort.

You’ll most likely spot him in our customer service box, helping guests feel welcome and looked after. Ask him what he enjoys most about his job, and the answer is the people. Catching up with returning visitors and getting to know those joining us for the first time are among the highlights of his working day.

From security to the Sundowners stage

While many guests know Dave through his work in security, others may remember seeing him in a rather different role.

Around 20 years ago, he took to our very own Sundowners stage with his glam band. Alongside entertaining audiences, the group raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK and Teenage Cancer Trust, putting their love of music to work for two worthy causes.

That musical connection to Searles continues today. Dave still enjoys joining Adam and the Superstars for the occasional appearance, bringing another side of his personality to our entertainment programme.

From his role as our resident Mr Halloween to playing guitar in this year’s return of Mercury, he’s always happy to make a cameo. Next time you’re watching a show, you might just recognise someone from the security team!

Keeping the music going

Outside work, Dave is a member of The Palimpsest, a band that performs locally and appeared at the Hunstanton Music Festival this summer.

His passion for playing gives him plenty of opportunities to swap his security uniform for a guitar and share his love of live music with an audience.
