On your marks, get set, go! Plan a summer of sports fun at Searles

School’s out and there’s plenty to keep the kids active and help to hone their sports skills ahead of September’s team selection during the long summer break with our brand-new Searles Sports Academy.

Summer holiday sports activities at Searles

From Wimbledon to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025ᵀᴹ tournament, there’s plenty of sporting action to inspire your mini athletes in the making this summer and we have the perfect solution to keep them busy on those long summer days!

Launched this year, the Searles Sports Academy is a summer-long programme of on-site fun, fitness and sports development for 8-14-year-olds. Created by Searles’ leisure team, team sports coach Dan Penny says the new academy is the perfect complement to the resort’s outdoor pool and indoor craft activities, with plans to keep everyone busy and off the bench as they enjoy the sports sessions on offer.

With three sessions taking place on select days, kids can join in a single session for £7.50 or participate in all three activities with a day pass for £15, which offers five fun-packed hours for less than the cost of a day out along the coast. Plus, with the kids fully occupied and enjoying the action-packed fitness sessions, adults can relax knowing their little ones are in safe hands while they enjoy the resort’s facilities between activities.

“We will be running a range of sports activities including football, rugby, netball, basketball, volleyball, athletics and cricket for boys and girls,” says Dan. “Football is really popular with our young guests, so there will be a soccer session every day, and we will rotate the other activities so everyone has the opportunity to try something different with at least two sessions of each sport during a week.

Summer entertainment for tweens to teens at Searles Leisure Resort

“One of the challenges to being able to have a go at a new sport is that an established team may require a certain level of ability to play, but with our Searles Sports Academy sessions every age, size and ability will be supported to get involved and enjoy the game in a relaxed, unpressurised environment,” adds Dan.

“From a casual kickabout to helping kids hone their skill and improve their game, our team will be on hand to ensure everyone gets something out of each session at the Searles Sports Academy. Whether a child is really sporty or needs some encouragement, we want to make every activity fun and fear-free – it’s a relaxed environment, and our team is here to support every age and ability, no matter how confident they are at the outset.

“Plus, with our team’s expert guidance, kids can spend time practising certain aspects of their favourite sport, so by the time it comes round to heading back to school they can be confident in trying out for the school team and playing matches. Our goal is to ensure every face is a happy one at the end of each session, and taking part is a brilliant way to enjoy time at the resort, away from screens, staying active and healthy. We look forward to meeting lots of young Sports Academy stars this summer!”
