16 January 2018
As the days slowly get longer, it's a great time of year to get out with your loved ones. The sea might still be a bit nippy for a swim, but there’s so much to see and do in the area. So what’s going on in North Norfolk for the 2018 half term holidays (12th-16th Feb)? It’s an especially good time for family events and attractions. Meanwhile you can also find some of the best value deals of the year on short breaks. Here are just some of the things to see and experience on your next visit:
Rainforest Encounters at Sea Life Hunstanton
Do you know someone who is animal crackers? For those who love to roll their sleeves up and get to grips with various beasties, the new Rainforest Ranger Zone at Hunstanton Sea Life is great fun. Family Activity Days at Brancaster Beach
When it comes to family fun, there’s little better than getting out into the fresh air for a host of games, crafts and activities. Skimming stones, flying kites, tracking wildlife, making sand sculptures… you name it, it’s here at Brancaster Beach in the holidays (Weds 14/ Thurs 15 Feb) and other selected days in and around the National Trust Brancaster Estate. A great opportunity for parents and kids to discover some old school fun and games together! All equipment is provided. See the Brancaster events section for more: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brancaster-estate
The Adventure Playground at Thursford
Here’s a great shout for anyone with kids that are full of energy in the holidays. Discover a whole host of climbing frames, jumps, slides and a zip wire. It’s all part of the fun at Thursford. It’s all part of your day ticket at this popular family day out, which also has a fantastic collection of vintage steam engines. You can enjoy lunch in the fresh air without spending a bomb too, as there’s a great picnic area tool. Find current ticket prices, opening times and more here: https://www.thursford.com/
Flex your “mussels” with a taste of Norfolk Seafood
It’s not the warmest time of year on the East coast, but it’s certainly a great time for foodies to visit Norfolk. This is especially true for those who like seafood, with Brancaster Mussels in peak season. Available at any number of pubs and restaurants, these are a tasty treat anywhere you find them (especially with a glass of white wine or cider, along with some freshly cooked chips to soak up the sauce!). Of course, fussier family members will love the excellent local fish and chips and other options too.
King’s Lynn Lumieres & Markets
Fancy a truly illuminating trip to one of Norfolk’s classic towns? As night falls each evening, a series of beautiful light shows are projected onto historic buildings at King's Lynn currently, bringing a real burst of colour to your visit. It’s also a fine shopping destination, especially if you hit the town on market days (usually Tuesdays and Saturdays). The huge sand flats and nature reserves of Norfolk make it the perfect place to become a “twitcher”. But if you’ve never done it before, where do you start? Well, one excellent place to do so is with the experts at Titchwell March. Here you can find day courses where you can learn the basics of birdwatching (until 27 March) in the best company.
